I filed in February of last year and was discharged in May. Immediately after my discharge, I requested my free credit report from all 3 bureaus with the scores. I sent in a list of all of the incorrect information that I disputed to all3 bureaus. At that time I had a 490, 514, and a 523. About 45 days later, I received an updated credit report from all 3 bureaus showing the information had been corrected.
I then applied for a Orchard Bank Card and was approved for a $300 limit. I used this card for 6 months and kept the balance below 30% of the credit limit, paying it off entirely every month. I received another Orchard Bank Card the next month and did the same.
Last month, I received a Providian Washington Mutual Visa with a $7,000 credit limit at 14.99%. I was in complete shock. As an added feature of this card, they give you your credit score from Transunion every month and track it for free. My credit score is now a 685!
It just goes to show that you can rebuild your credit life as long as you follow the simple rules.
I used to read this forum every night until 2 or 3 in the morning while I was going through my BK7, so I thought I would send an optimistic note to you all!
Good Luck!!!
