I want to get rid of things that I don't use or really need

    Hi Everyone:

I use to have a habit of purchasing things - particularly kitchen gadgets. In my kitchen I have things like a Vaccuum Sealer,a Rotisserie, a food slicer and other odds and ends which I barely used or haven't at all (I bought a car mask for the front end of my car years ago and it still remains in the box -NEW). Although these items really don't have alot of value, I would like to sell them. I could use some extra cash anyway even if its only to fill my gas tank. Would the trustee frown at me for selling these items? Would appear that I am getting rid of "assets?" What would be the best way to get rid of these things - selling wise?
Ebay, a flea market, ad in the paper? Should only insist on cash or money order transactions to avoid any paper trails?

    Any suggestions? Experience?

    Thanks

Is this just being based on your 6 month income?

I am confused...about some of the postings..... Are we talking about selling things within six months before and being afraid of this counting towards your income? or is this something we should all be fearing if we sold things on ebay a long time ago? I would hope that selling things way back when isn't a problem. I did this to stay alive most times!

We're talking about selling things now, to raise funds for attny's fees, pay necessary bills, etc.

Most of us have sold stuff a while back to keep things afloat. The question is what if we are selling stuff right now. How would that look to the Court if the Court were to find out.

I believe this is only to the short period of time prior to filing BK, not years ago. We probably have all done certain things like sell old stuff to pay the bills. I use to sell my old college textbooks on Amazon to earn extra cash and to get rid of clutter around the house. I wouldn't get too worried

We unloaded a ton of stuff last summer before the move. Several tons actually. 4 dumpsters full of junk that you collect when you sit in one place for a while.

Since we've been here, we've taken a bunch of stuff to Goodwill, and put a bunch out with the trash. More junk that was collected over the years and I didn't have a chance to sift thru it all before the move. Old clothes that got packed away as the season's changed and then didn't get worn again because the kids had grown.

If I had anything left worth selling, I'd be selling instead of trashing and donating.
