I filed under the old laws, discharged on March 6, not yet closed. I am trying to fight the battle with the CRA and creditors to correct entries on my report. I have mucho medical bills and a couple of credit cards that were turned over to alternate collection agencies before I filed. My question is: Are the CRAs allowed to show days late, credit limit, balance amount or "derogatory" or "placed for collection" on my reports. While it is true in some cases, all of the debt I had with the exception of my student loan was discharged through Chapter 7. Shouldn't they be reporting the debts in that manner (i.e. included in bankruptcy or discharged through bankruptcy) without showing the past dues, placed for collection and all the other notations? Do I start with the creditors or go straight to the CRAs. I am not having much success with getting many of the items cleared from my reports. Will this not take place until some months from now (should I wait a bit longer for the legal system to work its "magic?") I have applied for 1 unsecured card and have no intention or interest in even TRYING to secure other credit until this mess is cleaned up, but I would like to see some results from my months of having my stomach turned inside out. I am really unclear as to what is allowed and not allowed to be shown on a credit report after BK. My scores are still extremely low according to true credit 523 (TU), 544 (EXP) and 525 (EQ). I am starting to feel this was not a fresh start but another nail in my financial coffin. Any experienced credit report gurus with knowledge of how to go about this would be welcome to reply. I am about to pull out my hair.
