I have filed my bankruptcy and now I got a letter from a company that is not on my credit reports. How can they still be trying to collect if it's not listed on my report, and is there anything I can do to stop it?
My credit scores: Before Filing: Tr 496, Ex 496, Eq 507
Today: Tr 618 (+122), Ex 601 (+105), Eq 623 (+116)
It's up to you to know who your creditors are and to list them on your bankruptcy filing schedules. Whether a creditor is listed on your credit reports is totally irrelevent.
However, you can amend your bankruptcy filing schedules and list them. There's probably something somewhere on this forum about how to amend your bankruptcy filing. If not, just Google something like "how to amend bankruptcy filing". If you used an attorney, just ask him.
I read somewhere that not listing all one's creditors is one of the most common mistakes made when people file bankruptcy. So, you're not alone.
Check that and compare to your Creditor Matrix you filed. Make sure you included everyone, or you get those you missed.
Could be the Creditor is playing a game with you as well. Say you owe Chase, and Chase is who you listed, but Chase has since sold your debt to a Credit Collection Agency. The Agency can come back and say, "We weren't properly notified." So look for different contact addresses as well for each and every debt.
The attny we met with today will list EVERY address he has for each Creditor he's filing against for a client. Just to make sure the Creditor doesn't come back with the, "We were properly notified" excuse.
I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

You can amend your report. Or simply call them and inform them of the bankruptcy, and give them the case number. Inform them that the debt is uncollectable. That should be enough.

I assume it's a collection agency? I didn't think you had to list these guys, since they're just trying to collect a debt that you actually owe to *whoever*. As long as the debt they're trying to collect is listed in the BK you're good.
