    Target

Just so you all know, Target no longer approves people for the red card if you have filed for bankruptcy. That was the reason given for turning me down.

Makes sense given that everything in their store except food is made in china.

Callie - really...that is rotten. I applied for the red card for both my husband and myself about 3 months ago and both of us got one with a $300 limit. Wonder what caused the change of heart?

That is wierd, I just got approved not even 2 weeks ago... Received my card and went today actually to buy necessities just to pay them off and rebuild...

I wonder, did you have a Target card that was included in the bankruptcy? I had never had a Target charge before and I wonder if that is why I was approved even with the bankruptcy??

I don't get any of this. The target card is issued by HSBC, which is very bk-friendly. Even if you bked on them before, I don't think they disqualify for that.

              Callie,
Was this the Target Visa or Guest Card? I just approved for a Target guest card about 2 weeks ago. My bankruptcy was discharged 2/10/06. The limit was only $200.00

From reading another credit board it seems Target is hit or miss with people that have a bankruptcy. Some people are approved but others are not with no rhyme or reason to it.

Maybe they started financing their own cards?

The Orchard card comes from Household but the Target card does come from Target National Bank. We did file on Household but received the Orchard cards anyway for both myself and my husband. The Target red card we have only had a few months. Given some of us received a card even as recent as a few weeks ago I am not sure I wouldnt call and ask for someone in authority with Target. I know it isnt the end of the world if you dont get a card but I would still like to know when they instituted the no-Bk policy. We have a new Target store in our township that I really like. I am unAmerican I realize but I cannot stand Walmart. The one in our area is dirty, the employees for the most part are not that friendly, it is always in need of stocking, and their merchandise is beyond cheap. Regardless, we have applied for and received cards from Target, Orchard Bank, Cap One and Juniper. We are done. The limits are all low just the way I like them.

I found it interesting when I read this, because I applied for a Best Buy card (they were offering a great intro rate and I was buying something in the store), and was declined with "Bankruptcy" cited as the reason. The card is issued by HSBC which I thought would be no problem, especially since I already have a HSBC and an Orchard card. Has anyone else applied at Best Buy and experienced this? I had a Best Buy card many years ago that was closed long before I ever filed BK. Just wondering...

                        Target

No, I have never had a Target card before. I don't remember which card I applied for now, because as soon as I read my reject letter, I ripped it up and tossed it. But definitely, bk was the reason for denial.

Oh well, I will do like others and wait about a month and then try again.

Mine said that do, but I dont think that it necessarily means that ALL bks are
denied. I didnt expect mine to be approved because our 13 is still showing as active, but many on here have gotten them. I think there are other factors they consider.

On a positive note, since opening that CJ account, my Transunion fico has increased by 12 (up to 588 now)! Experian may take a bit of time, because I am having some corrections made.

I had to wait nearly a year after BK before Target approved me for one of thier cards. I was approved in December, after receiving 2 turndowns previously because of "BK"

                              Keep on working it!
BUSY running my own credit repair services! Sorry I don't stop in so often any more!
