    Credit Report - Confused

I just pulled my credit report. I filed on Monday, and it is already showing up in the "public records" section. My total debt has went down by about 2k, and my score has went up (not much, 20 points or so). It doesn't show any credit cards charged off or anything though.

Does this seem normal? I would have figured it would have plunged once it showed up on my credit report. I'm Confused!!!

Dont want to hurt your feelings but that info is a false sense of security. After all you JUST filed. The creditors have not had their day in court nor has the outcome of your case been determined. I dont have an explanation why your credit score has gone up...maybe it is because of the initial filing or maybe it is the calm before the storm. Your score will drop post-Bk for obvious reasons...BK is a derogatory hit on your credit and will be for 7-10 years. The good news is you can rebuild your credit and start your financial life over. Sorry just dont be swayed by that report.

Since you "just filed" - bankruptcy is not going to be reflected on you credit score for a least 30 days and probably not for a least 3-4 months.
After discharge is when you check your credit score and make corrections on it....
Be patient - bankruptcy does not happen overnite - it's a process that must run its course.....3-6 months......

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

FICO scores seem to change with the wind. Pull your FICO on the first of every month and it will have a different score every time, but they will be close. Twenty points is not a significant change, when you go from 560 to 680 that is a serious pop though!!
