In a large bowl, combine 2 eggs, 1/4 cup of the flour, buttermilk, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, seasoning salt and garlic powder.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, 2 cups flour, salt and 3/4 teaspoon black pepper.
Preheat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C).
Dip drained pickles into milk mixture and then dredge them in the flour mixture. Deep fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Salt and pepper to taste. I am making this for some feller's that are coming over tonite.

You can do the same thing with slices of squash, hot peppers, banana peppers, broccilli, cauliflower, etc... depending on your taste....

Great for a football game, parties, take on a picnic, etc.... Serve with a spicey sauce (shrimp sauce) or a cool ranch dip.....

Best pickles I ever ate was made out of a watermelon rind............ South Georgia....... blew my mind!!!

          13nOR,

Have your heard of potato dumplings? Bean dumplings? Ham dumplings?

Lots of things around the US that people eat that I never even knew about either.... watermelon pickles was one of them..........

Here in the South we will deep fry anything!! Okra, squash, eggplant, green tomatoes, corn, pickles, Twinkies, apples, etc.

            Yes, Twinkies.

If it cannot be deep fried, we will slap some gravy on it.

13inOR, I will have to send you some recipes for soul food. Not always fibro friendly or good for the hips, but it is comforting!

Sounds like the South is a challenging place to be on a diet! I did live in Texas
for a good part of my childhood so am familiar with fried okra, I actually love that, but my family was never originally from there or anything so I am sure there was a lot of things I didnt experience.

Dieting is hard here. I grew up in a family of great cooks and I work at an office where there is always an excuse for a party!

If I eat, or see, or smell another Morel mushroom I am going to puke, I ate three pounds of the sixteen pounds I pulled this year, new record for personal consumption.
