    What gives?

Since I've been disputing items on my credit reports, I've been doing the same with my boyfriends. He got a response from Experian a few days ago. According to the letter, they updated some of his accounts to say included in bankruptcy. BUT, in the next line it says this....

......However, the creditor did not report the account with this status to us. To ensure that the creditor correctly reports the account and that your account continues to be reported as included in bankruptcy, you must send the creditor a copy of your bankruptcy filing and a schedule of debts included in bankruptcy......

I take this to mean that Experian didn't do any kind of investigation at all. It seems that they just changed the items in question, and now they expect my BF to contact the creditors to ensure that the items remain correctly reported.

So, what does one do in this situation? The creditors have already received all of this information, so why should they get it again, at our expense?

This disputing becomes more confusing every day.

Confusing? You Bet! Check this out - I disputed several items on my TU, and got a reply yesterday. One of the cc's I had which was IIB and was in collections is now reporting as closed, but clearly listed in the "satisfactory accounts" section as "paid as agreed"...moving from a neg to a positive! I'll take this as a lucky coin toss...but you're right, sometimes this is a crap shoot. Fon't do their work for them and press them again - if it's inaccurate and they can't get it right, press for deletion.

Yes, it can be very confusing. I disputed several TU items. Yesterday, their reply. One of my cc's which was in collections is now reporting as account closed, bit clearly listed in the 'satisfactory accounts' section as "paid as agreed', moving from a neg to a pos. I'll take this as a lucky coin toss! DON'T do their work for them. Press them again, and if it continues to be inaccurate, p ress for deletion. Your bf has no obligation to contact the oc at this point.
