How long did it take to get a hold of your finances?Did BK wipe the slate clean and were you able to afford things again?I'm hoping we don't get into a mess again because we won't have cc to fall back on now.We are going to try to keep the house and car payment.

Once I was discharged 4 months ago and became debt free, it was the first time I had a positive net worth since I was 18 years old, 10 years ago. 4 months later I have 6 credit cards - 0 balances on all of them - over $6000 in unused available unsecured credit. A couple grand in the bank, no debt, and my only bill is rent every month - I think my finances are under control at this point. -
After years of struggling and barely making it paycheck to paycheck, we finally began building a savings again shortly after we moved into our new place (March of 06). It's been so great to see the account grow.....and because of not being able to build like that over the past several years, I'm getting greedy about it too. I put as much in as I can and I won't take any of it unless it's absolutely neccessary or if we plan something special for ourselves, like a vacation.Bankruptcy History:

Yes, life is far better.
I have no desire to ever have credit again. I'm doing just fine with a checkbook and cash.
I kept all the equity in my home so, I didn't come out of bk with no assets. I'm maxxing out my 401K and sleeping well at nights.Comment
