    Names.....

I know I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this......but....

Can we PUUHHHH---LEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE STOP calling each other names. It makes me wonder if we are indeed, all adults. You know who you are if you've done this....it's really disappointing...

    OK, my .02....back to lurking..........
If I didn't have anything to worry about, I would worry about that...

No flaming, I agree. Let's all play nice together in this sandbox.

I did not realize there was name calling or flaming going on. I know once i a while we get some obnoxious poster but that does not appear to be the norm. Most are just normal folks looking for advice or a shoulder to cry on. If someone is obnoxious, I just ignore their post.

I know that I was offended by one poster who not only seemed to attack us "Gurus" or "Oldtimers", but attacked new members! I will not tolerate that. I remember well and hope I always will remember first making the decision to file for BK, telling family members, etc.

After almost two decades of practicing as a behavioral health professional, I still cannot understand why people pick on people having a rough time.

If I offend anyone, PLEASE tell me! I can get in a b%$**y mood, but I try not to take it out on anyone!

          Jane,

I am not a behavioral specialist. That said, I think some people thrive on making others feel bad. It makes the abuser feel superior. I used to have a friend like that. She called alot when my husband lost his job. Raved about her new 700k house. Her daughter making cheerleading. The fact she was a housewife and would never have to work. Her big dilemna of shopping at Nordstroms or Dillards. She would get mad if the salesclerk at Dillards did not say "thank you, Mrs. X" She always insisted they use her name. Needless to say, she is no longer a friend. I would find myself depressed after talking/seeing her. Learned afterwards, that other women felt the same about her. Some of these folks must be very insecure or lonely. In a way, I feel sorry for them. I am learning to live with much less, and am very ok with it. Heck, I just figure I am ahead of the curve. All Americans are going to have to learn to live with less, eventually. Most have no retirement, or minimal saved. We are loosing less and less ground to China and other economies. I am working on learning that less is more. Hope you are feeling well, Jane!

Yes, we do and have had in the past a problem of name-calling and abusive language on our forum.......

Some have been very quick to judge others......

Walk a mile in my shoes, then judge me..... besides I'm not here for your "opinion of my personality"......

I'm here for the same reason as all of you...... I filed or am going to file bankruptcy...... and I want and need more information regarding it..... Also, I want the support and ideas from others who have filed.

Bankruptcy is very stressfull............. I don't need anyone calling me a "idiot" - I already know that! I make my mistakes - I learn from them!!!

I'm not here to learn of your sexual preferences and actions in life...... or to criticize you of yours......

I'm here to survive bankruptcy.............. just like the rest of you.........

Yes, keep the "fighting" down to a dull roar..... it's okay to disagree .... just don't be so beligerent about it......

If some of you continue to "cross the line", try to keep a disturbance going,
and are just plain ole rude and up in your face............ YOU WILL BE DEALT WITH.............. READ MY LIPS - I DIDN'T MUMBLE!!!!

            My thoughts,

Good thread; needs to be said.

I make an occasional post publicly, especially if someone needs encouragement or I can give help from my limited experience, just having started the BK. But I have been welcoming some newcomers and giving them a heads-up in private messages to expect a few negative posts, and use the ignore button!!

There are times I wonder if the troll, no make that OGRE, who has taken over the AOL bankruptcy board is looking for new posters to put down, and ventures here under various names. Maybe not; it may just be a certain personality type, as debtisbad mentioned, who needs ego boosting.

I lurked here for 4 months before signing up, not eager for confrontations; my life is in enough turmoil. Much better with "ignore" function in place, I must say.

                  Thanks, icehouse!

You gave me an idea for my new avatar! Make my cup of coffee a mocha latte with whipped cream and a hazlenut sprinkle, please! (No calories if it is in the virtual cafe, of course....)

                  Welcome aboard.

Can I have a splash of Bailey's Irish Cream in my coffee??? No calories and no problem if used for "medicinal purposes" like calming my nerves

Thank you, Debtisbad, for asking about me. I'm hangin' in there like everyone else! I do think that some people feel so badly about themselves that they like to put others down and flaunt the "stuff" they have. People like that irritate/bore/amuse me, depending on my mood of the day

Yes, there are a few trolls and trollettes on here, but mostly everyone is super-nice. Welcome, ICEHOUSE, to our forum family!
