Are We A "free People"......???

Are we "free" or do we just have the perception that we are???? Some have brought up this question.......

Many factors are considered when it comes to our freedoms...........

1. the right to bare arms (until it jeapordizes someones life)
2. the right to free speech (until it slanders or endangers someone else)
3. the right to practace our religious faith (until it threatens the rights and beliefs of others)
4. the right to raise our families as we see fit..... (until someone says we are unfit)
5. the right to work - own a business - (till our work is shipped out oversears or caught in a down-sizing)....


Any other thoughts???

I have to agree, the American Dream has just about died!!!

1. Average person cannot buy a home................
2. Small business owners are becoming extinct......
3. Our english language is turning into SPANISH......
4. Our doctors are all starting to be foreigners.....
5. In God We Trust, our religious guidelines our Nation was founded on are gradually being removed.....
6. Our Nation is made up of immigrants - many who are here illegally.....(yet use all of our social services).....
7. Our large corporations are closing down here and sending their work overseas..............(then shipping back to USA)
8. Our crime rate continues to go up...... (now a lot of our children are criminals).

I cannot SEE that any of the above is a GOOD THING!!!

You do have the right to bare arms unless you live in some ultra-conservative area that forces people to wear long sleeves all day. Or did you mean the right to bear arms? You do have the right to an education. Might want to look into that English class.

You must have a different copy of the constitution. I missed that amendment allowing people to beat their kids senseless because that's how they want to raise them.

I missed this amendment too. You do not have the right to work in the US. You have the obligation to get off your lazy behind and get an education and find a job.

There are plenty of things that we're not free to do. Just go try to kill someone, and you'll find out real quick. Every society has rules.

Minni, we aren't all linguists here. We understood what you meant. There is no need to correct a minor faux pax when the meaning is understood. We can all relate to the loss of certain freedoms. As you said "any thoughts"? You understood clearly that you were saying that everything has its limits and that is how I recieved it. We tend to type in snippets and i frequently omit words.

While sitting here I am usually doing the following, working on my desk, petting my dogs, drinking water, checking the news, looking at Bills, talking to my wife or kids, having things asked of me from the kitchen and I am fairly deaf (20 years behind a screaming diesel does it, and NO LIGHTNING we were not issued nor was hearing protection even thought of over those years, none of us rebuilding an engine would have thought to muffle or disturb the deep, throaty sound of a DETROIT Diesel at full RPM with no load, it would have been UNMANLY and unheard of and Roger Penske, and yes we have all met him, he was a subcontractor for the County, hisself would have gladly "B" slapped anyone who suggested it, today we know better, not then), and doing a host of other things while perusing here and my one other Forum that relates to Vehicles that I love so much. So, MIN, we understand that you are likely doing many things at once, going back and forth and just creating some subjects to talk about, so we overlook minor mistakes and I ask all of you to please overlook my glaring ones where i omit necessary letters and words.

Now, back to the post, your point is taken Min, many of our freedoms have been trashed. I can no longer go and just look at the Cruise Ships in the Port of Miami, I can no longer sit on the Blimp Base where Chalks (the original Pan AM) is, I can no longer enter the Port just to hang my legs in the water and sit with other folks and fish in the back where it was more Beachy than seawall. That is one of the many freedoms that has vanished since 9/11. AND MAKE NO MISTAKE IT WAS A FREEDOM, a cherished memmory of my friends and I. I understand what you meant, give me back my freedom, keep all this moderness, I would trade it anyday. In fact you cannot even fish inside Government Cut anymore, you are RUDELY warned away by the Coast Guard and we are talking a huge area. As far as crime, violent crime is down 7% in Florida, mainly due to the castle doctrine which allows us to kill a person committing an act against us and does not require us to flee if possible, Floridians are permitted to use deadly force. Most everyone i know is armed, I do not carry a handgun as i have a "mean temperature" as Tubby from little rascals would say. However, shoul;d anyone choose to steal the car, break in, I am very well armed and in fact a Czech Soldier and Chinese Peasant and BAR gunner would be right at home assembling weapons in my house, along with at least one Russian Sniper, yep it still shoots and is my most loved next to my 22's.

Oh, and forgot to add, I was watching Serenity while typing, you remember it as the series Firefly.

I also do not think it is our right to own homes anymore. Ask the elderly in NW Indiana who are being forced out of their homes due to high taxes. If you own a home, you are a sitting duck for the government. They can raise your property taxes to any amount. Ask the people moving out of New Jersey what their property taxes are (you would probably faint!). These homeowners are having to pay for all the services that the local governments supply to the illegal immigrants that American corporation (and government) so desire. Yes, the government says that they do not want illegal immigrants here (yeah-thats why they are doing nothing to stop them!) Anyway, in future years, I look for taxes to escalate and escalate. At least Florida cannot raise taxes more than 3% per year. WE (that is you and I) are paying more and more for emergency room services, schools, road repairs, police protection all due to illegals. If I sound racist, that is too damn bad, it is my opinion and last I heard, in American I am entitled to my opinion!!!!!!!
