My 4Runner was never taken in the bk and trustee has made no issue of it either...just my 2005 tax refund ($3K).
Since it's been such a pain in the ass (bad year for 4runner's I'm assuming) or this one is a lemon...I'd like to trade it in (it is paid off) and get a highlander (2001 or 2002)...with payments to start building back my credit as well as get me in a vehicle that will not make me guess if it's going to start without a problem.
Would this be a problem and do I have to notify trustee? (ch. 7 here)
Or should I just continue until my case is closed (discharge was in Feb)
I am so done with my car's sense of humour.

Why did you buy brand new tires for a vehicle you call a "pain"? I don't think bankruptcy solved your financial problems. It only wiped out old debt. You still have that huge cell phone bill, and you just bought tires for a car only a few weeks ago you now think is worthless.
I think you need some classes in basic money management.

Just to be safe I'd wait it out until you are closed.

Let's put it this way...the tires were down with no tread....I needed new tires & had just blown one in the rear...I spent $350 for four new tires for the SUV...that was a necessary expense...I paid my phone bill...that is wiped clean...the car is not "worthless" it has some problems...all of us involved in bk obviously have some money management issues...otherwise we would not be here on this forum...
I live in FL. We are in hurricane season. We have tropical rainstorms in the afternoon. Not putting on tires would or could cause a big problem in case of bad storm on the way home...I would spin out...I did what I needed to do...
My bills are paid and my car has new tires...what more needs to be said?

LOL.....if it makes you feel better I have no tread on mine and it's on it's way to big car heaven. I was thinking of buying another car however I am going to go with seeing how long I can ride out my jalopy and then getting another car cash. I want to put away about 8k. Without a car payment and all those other extra payments it shouldn't be that hard. I'm just praying the one I have now lasts me at least another year.
