    Collection Response Letter

Does anyone have a copy of a letter they have used to respond to a collection agency stating that the account is not theirs? My husband is getting letters from a collection agency for a T-Mobile account that he never had. I found a link on this forum for a letter that would like verification of the account but I know it's not his and really want something that states clearly that the account is not his. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Here's a good form letter that allows you to pick and choose what's appropriate for your situation - http://www.harborrats.com/private/letters/letter1.pdf

You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to see this form letter. You can download it from http://www.download.com/3000-2378-10000062.html . This form is not interactive, but is a good example for your husband to use to write his letter. If this wrong account is showing on all three credit reports, he will have to send this letter to all three. Also the letters should be sent by registered mail so you can prove the letters were received by the credit bureaus and when. A verified paper trail is very important when challenging errors on your credit report.

Hope your husband is successful getting this off his credit reports!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
