File on own or Hire an Attorney?

I've been lurking for a week or so, trying to read as much as I could about my options and things. I wasn't quiet sure that bk would be right for me, but then I found this website and it was definitly a gem. Put me at ease on alot of my fears. My case isn't a really complicated one at all, but I'd still like to ask for advice...

I am looking to file Chapter 7. Last week I was fired and I did find a new position, but I am now making around $6,000 less than the average household income in Michigan. I found the list of expenses for the means test and think I'll be fine with that.

I have around $15,000 in unsecured debt and a $11,500 auto loan I am hoping to wipe clean (I don't care if i loose the car... it was a mistake getting it) I also have an $8,000 personal loan that is unsecured. I also have around 50,000 in student loans. I realize that my federal loans are un touchable and I'm fine with that. But around 20,000 of those loans are private. Has anyone had any luck with private student loans? The student loans aren't an issue right now, because they are in deferrment due to the unemployment for a year

I own no property and the only thing secured out of my debt is my Jeep, but I want to discharge that as well. I am very comfortable with forms and numbers. I do my own taxes every year by hand. I am buying the NOLO book today and will hopefully get that in the next couple of days. Would this be incredible difficult fr me to handle on my own?

I have read some places that its a good idea to max out any remaining credit you have before filing, but I've also heard that anything purchased on credit cards 60 days before filing is exempt from discharge. I do have a Best Buy card that I have purchased things on. Is that something that I need to worry about them trying to collect on the goods? For things I recently purchased, should I wait 60 days from the purchase date to file? I have an appointment with an attorny next week, but I think it would be very hard to come up with the money to pay for an attorny... my fiance is going to college and we have to pay for everything ourselves...

I hope this wasn't too much rambling and it makes sense... I appreciate any advice people could give about my situation. Thanks

**Thought of another question... I am currently 2 payments behind on the vehicle. Should I try to make payments or just stop making payments and wait for the bankruptcy? How long does it take before a place will reposses a vehicle? Its a Chase loan if that helps
