    Not for the Humor Impaired

    Go Navy!

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference
that included admirals from the U.S., English,
Canadian, Australian, and French navies. At a cocktail
reception, he found himself standing with a group of
half a dozen or so officers that included personnel
from most of the countries. Everyone was chatting away
in English as they sipped their drinks but a French
Admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans
learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He
then asked: "Why is it that we always have to speak
English in these conferences rather than speaking
    French?"

    Without hesitating, the American Admiral
replied, "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians,
Aussies, and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't
    have to speak German."

Suddenly the group became very quiet. . .

    ROFL, Anon!!

Made me think of my Dad.

He served in WWII under Patton. Signal Corps. Which in those days, they did telephone, telegraph, wire taps. In before the Superiors, out after, run up the line and set up in advance of the Superiors arrival.

They ate K-Rations. Many were terrible, dry powdered foods you'd mix with water as Dad described them. But there was one time, they stayed in what had been a swanky French Hotel as their Base.

The Hotel Chef had been cooking for the German officers until the Americans liberated the city. The Chef stayed on and cooked for them. Dad said he never knew powdered eggs could taste soooooo good!!

That Chef took their K-Rations and whipped up the most wonderful omlettes Dad ever tasted in his life!!

Funny! Will have to send that to my stepdad.

He was a navy man. Enlisted while underage (lied). Having always been a fantastic auto mechanic, he built a rudimentary ice cream freezer aboard his ship from an old refrig. compressor, copper tubing and some other parts. They had some kind of powdered mix, but no freezer. Made ice cream when he could.

      He was very popular.
