My husband bought me a car in 2004, it is now paid off, and we want to put it in my name, I was discharges on 8/29/06. Do you think its safe to do this yet?

    Update:

I found this on PACER, does this mean awaiting closing or it is closed.

    1. what is the value of the car?

    2. who said he gave it to you. i thought he sold it to you for xxx amount, had a paper filled out that you pay him xxx amount on a monthly basis.

3 how can they do anything if you are paying for it.

i am wondering the same question, my attornry is on vaction for 2 weeks n
know, ( i know were my money went, jamaca? )

i remember from talking to her that what you do after yoyu file is your business ( within a certain limit )

once you file, the past debts are in bankruptcy, any new debts you get are your problem.

but remember posts you read were they might reopen a case cause you inherited money, won the lottery, ect.

my attorney told me the trustee wants money money money, 1,000 is peanuts, 5000 she is smiling

    ok my point is,
if the car is worth say 3,200 i would not worry about it, if questioned just show them the agreement you said you would pay him 30.00 a month till paid off.

if the car is worth 7000 15000 you better wait or contact a few attorneys for advice

Trade in value of the car is 2,740.00 according to Kelly Blue Book. I guess Ill have him write me out a reciept for payments. So maybe that way I can get it in my name.

        good idea

remember if the blue book value is 2700

and you need new tires, ac fixed , car cleaned out, work on the motor

this could deduct from the kelly blue book value

if it needs 1000 in repairs the value is about 1850
