        Think Big - Win !

You're not going to win anyway so it's irrelevent. Sounds like the check you need to receive is a reality check. by Steve_d

NEVER SAY NEVER, If you hit the lotto I would trust your most trusted and LET THEM CLAIM IT. I plan to hit in the VIRGINIA MILLION dollar raffle! HAH HAH, THINK POSITIVE !
My debts are officially discharged (they just haven't closed the case) but when I converted to Ch7 (because I decided to drop one full time job - my day job) I have been working 60-80hrs overtime non-stop every pay period. AND I just hit for $8000 at the casino over the weekend. SO ITS OKAY TO DREAM because IT COULD BE YOU!

Your trustee can take any windfall such as lottery winnings between when you file bk and the case is closed, plus for the six months following closing.

This answer depends on your trustee and the customs in your bankruptcy district. If your case is officially discharged but not yet closed, and you have a considerable (more than 10%) increase in your income, if your trustee finds out about it, that could delay the closing of your case since you now have more disposble income that you did. If the 10%+ increase puts you over your state's median income and you now show more than $170/mo disposable income on the Means Test, you could find your Ch 7 case converted to a Ch 13 case.

After your case is closed, then you can make any new extra income you want. The trustee can't touch it.

Really, I thought this one was up to 180 days after filing?

Oops! My mistake - it *is* six months after filing that an inheritance, lottery winnings, and other windfalls are up for grabs by the trustee. Thanks for catching that, jolly and alh - my typing fingers got ahead of my brain!

I know I am dreaming but I figure whats the point of buying lotto Like the small pot ones if there just gonna get it if I win you see. I work part-time now so increasing my hours is a real possibility. I probrobly would win like 50k or something just so the trustee could take it .

WHOA, where did THAT come from???

It was Steve d who said, : You're not going to win anyway so it's irrelevent. Sounds like the check you need to receive is a reality check.

Maybe what I said "Its okay to dream," you just took it the wrong way???

I dream every day I'm going to hit a PHAT ONE at the casino, AND ITS GONNA HAPPEN. Even it I hit small ones they add up!

If you believe your going to hit big, whether it be sweeptakes for free, or the lottery for a buck, YOUR GOING TO WIN !

I've done FREE sweepstakes before, they had a contest several years ago with "losing scratch tickets," I never paid a cent on any scratch tickets I submitted in the sweepstakes, I took them from people who would discard them in the trash or leave them on the counter, I think I had like 50 entries all and all, and guess what .. I WON ! Virginia Lottery sent me a $3000 check. SO YOU PLAY THAT SWEEPSTAKES OF YOURS!

If you (anyone) wins the lotto, one million, 5 million, why would you worry about the $20-$50,000 the trustee takes?

What if you get an increase in child support

right after you file? Or you get a pay raise?
