    Gifts Question

Hello! I need to file BK...I am in AZ where only one spouse can file . My husband's sister gave him $1000 in Feb to help with his dental work. He deposited this in our joint checking acct. She gave him $5000 earlier this month and he deposited it in our joint savings. If I file BK next month are these "gifts" going to be a problem and can they be exempted. Thanks so much.

First of all, theer is no such thing as a state where only one spouse can file. You may file jointly if necessary.
Yes, these cash gifts are aproblem if, they can't be properly exempted.
You need to consult with a few bk lawyers. Most will give free or low cost initial consultations.
