    Unique boat repo question

We will be filing bk some time this month most likely. We have a boat that we live on and the bank wants it back. The repo man hasn't found us yet but we suspect he's getting close.

My question(s) are... since the boat is our home, is there anything we can do to hold off the repo for a month or two? Will it be treated as a home (which it is) or just like any other recreational vehicle? Will starting the bk process hold off the repo?

We haven't contacted an attorney yet but do have a name for one a friend used... just trying to get the timing down.

I'm no attorney but I can tell you for sure that a filing (if done before repo) will halt EVERYTHING including student loans. It creates what is called "automatic stay". This will give you time to consult with attorney and get a plan. Not sure if having the boat listed with the tax man as a home will matter or not... Look into it. Good luck!
