    Leadership Missing, incompetence at hand

This is gleaned from personal friend's email circle, so I cannot post a link. The author is listed at the bottom.

The fact that Obama cannot fix the economy is the dirty little secret that everybody knows but the media ignores.

He guesses wrong, time after time, while his tab of Trillions uselessly spent grows and grows. Obma still wants to keep pushing labor-intensive "make work" jobs like we are still in the pre-computer and low-tech 1930's FDR administration! His model is that FDR spent his way out of the Great Depression is very wrong because the preparation for and entry into WWII pulled America out of the doldrums with a common purpose and renewed focus. Obama's lack of historical perspective, poor grasp of economics and partisan devotion to his Progressive agenda has stalled our recovery while giving us and our children a unpayable debt on top of a foundering economy.

However, the media remains silent about his incompetence and continues to feed the misconception that he should try more "ideas" that so far has cost trillions and delivered no appreciable recovery. Where is the news that Obama has failed for three years? Where is the mainstream outrage that he still wants a second "New Deal?"

Now, once again, he is going to present America with yet ANOTHER speech about his LATEST Progressive-based idea for economic recovery that will provide broke and out-of-work Americans general talking points that will describe a rough outline of a possible policy that, once reviewed by committees and his advisers, might lead to a future plan that IF enacted MIGHT lead to draft legislation that will be presented to Congress for them to amend blah, blah, blah... well we have seen this over and over. The country has a problem and Obama spends months to develop - a speech. When that does not work he relies on the media to cover for him, attack his detractors while he spends months to develop - another speech. How long will America have to suffer from this permanent campaigner who shows that not only his speechmaking was overrated but his leadership is non-existent. Obama certainly has demonstrated a lack of leadership as proven by his recent and well publicized taxpayer funded "just like Palin bus tour" flop followed immediately with a vacation supported by billion of dollars of taxpayer funded employees and equipment - some just to fly his dog to join the Obamas! I guess "shared sacrifice" is for other "jet owners" and "the rich" but not for Obama and the almost half of Americans who don't pay Income tax!

Even with the dreadful economy, rollercoaster stock market and flat-lined joblessness, Obama is still trying to incur more debt by enacting legislation to fund low-end jobs for "infrastructure" refurbishment and "Green Energy" jobs (like the much touted Solyndra, praised hailed and supported by Obama and Biden who went bust after soaking up $535 million in guaranteed loan tax monies!) Yes, he wants out-of-work Americans to grab picks and shovels and work to dig ditches, pave roads, pour concrete and wire rebar (all union controlled tasks by the way.) What about the out of work technicians, engineers and thousands and thousands of highly trained personnel now out of work with NASA out of the manned space business? Maybe they can learn to be an ironworker or get a job on the line at GM and get some of their taxdollars back in their paycheck! Maybe they will be herded into the country and learn to plant rice like Pol Pot did in Cambodia?

Since Washington is helpless to solve our economic woes then where is the media to question this administration and hold Obama accountable? Why is nobody asking why repeated failure is acceptable? Simply put the answer is something that the media does not want to address (since the mainstream media is part of the Obama machine) because although America's financial failure will provide a success path for Progressives, discussion of the administration's performance would prevent Obama being re-elected and the Democrats/Liberals/Progressives out of power for a long, long time. The answers to why Obama is not being held accountable are distinct and damning.

    1. The fact that Obama PROMISED to fix the economy and failed has been ignored.

He did not say he would just try but he PROMISED America during his campaign that if elected he would push his "stimulus" through and keep joblessness below 8%. Although he did spend more money in one inept try than his predecessor who was vilified for having failed economic policies, joblessness continues to be flatlined above 9%.

Then he promised the "Summer of Recovery." Well THAT didn't happen either. His speeches backfire and his budgets are wrong. He is a fool, but the media still loves him.

In 2008, many Americans wanted to discuss Obama's lack of business or executive experience, weak voting record and that he had never held ANY leadership position made him unprepared to lead this nation but they were ignored by the media who vigorously supported that Obama was ready to lead at day one, in fact calling his detractors "racist." Now we are going to go into Obama's fourth year of being President and our debt and joblessness are higher, our credit rating is lower and we have four wars (not just three with Bush.)

But the media still loves him.

Obama's track record for the past few years shows he has made America worse, not a better place for anyone - so just shut up and get out of the way.

    2. His "plan" not only didn't work but put us deeper into debt by 35%, lost our exemplary credit rating and gave our children a multi-generational taxbill that may never be paid.

Obama's reaction: NOT MY FAULT. How is that for leadership. Shut up and get out of the way.

    3. He is poison to the stock market.

He got elected and the stocks dropped, they recovered and then recently went south in a big way when his helplessness and lack of leadership panicked the market. He spoke and the market dropped 400 points - shut up and get out of the way.

What we need is a replacement in the White House (and Congress) who know we can't fix the problem but just strengthen the conditions to allow the private sector to effectively operate.

    1. Cut taxes for the job makers (what Obama refers to as THE RICH.)

    2. Revisit "shared sacrifice" so that the non-citizens and non-Taxpayers no longer get the benefit of tax monies at the expense of the middle class that are having to do with chronic unemployment and if they are lucky enough to be employed, are having to work to an older age since their 401k's have been horribly reduced because of Obama's lack of ability.

    3. Make government smaller, not bigger to allow the private sector to take over the economy. Hey, that will allow businessmen and women to control business growth instead of having a person (Obama) who never had a business and is surrounded by advisers who never ran businesses (or even consistently paid their income taxes) directly control our economy.

Obama needs to shut up and just go away. I know the Clowart and Piven Progressive model is co-incidentally being fulfilled with this administration, (you know the model that Progressives in the government spend us into default resulting in the inevitable socialization of America) so when Middle America is imploding, the market tanks, and hard-working Americans lose their retirement monies, the Progressives chuckle with the knowledge that our loss is their gain.

I do wonder how much laughing the Progressives will be doing in November of 2012? I hope not much.

    Andre' D.

The central fact is that we are in the wrenching beginning of the era of the end of work. Our technological success has made us so productive that there isn't enough work for everyone - and the work that is there can now be done at a lower wage rate by foreigners in cheap locations. Years of deregulation and implicit approval of illegal immigration by the Republicans has certainly hurt the working class, but Clinton's acquiescence on Free Trade has hurt as well. And for a while, it did help boost the working man's living standards - although a lot of that boost was due to the housing bubble and credit fueled binge (where lots of folks like yours truly were able to just charge our spending even though our incomes were dropping) - but once that situation crashed, we were left with the reduced living standards that have really been taking a hit ever since the 1970's.

As for the idiot's E-mail, concerning the first set, (1) is an inconsequential as W saying "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq in 2003, (2) did help stop the hole in the economy from growing, and was hampered by being too small, and in any case the horrendous fiscal situation was caused by W, who took "surpluses as far as the eye can see" and gave us the crisis as his swansong, and (3) is totally inaccurate as the stock market (as measured by the return of the S&P 500 based VFINX) is up 54% under Obama's tenure vs. going down 31% under W! Concerning the second set, (1) would not do anything since giving rich folks more money will just make them invest in hiring folks abroad, (2) would only be relevant to stop the spending on illegal aliens, which is only public school spending and emergency health care (which can still cost a lot!), and (3) would just mean more laid-off public workers, thereby increasing the unemployment rate.

The only way to get jobs back up is to institute tariffs and a moratorium on immigration and foreign labor, including really rooting out the hiring of illegals. But even this will be short-lived as eventually more artificial intelligence software and robots will take away more and more jobs (at least the good paying jobs - there will always be the cr@p jobs.)

You know, in some ways I'd like to see the Republicans in power just so they can be left with cleaning up the mess they made while governing.

Greetings "JBL". Knowing that your politics and mine are a bit in conflict, I partially agree with you. Between the two party's we have, not much but an inch between them is different. Both are into NEW WORLD ORDER crap, and both wish to see workers and masters. (see Rollerball the movie).

I disagree with your comment on the originator whom I do not personally know. The article was good enough for you to put time into your retort. A very good one I must say. It was his opinion and I think we both could agree, he has a right to it as you do yours.

Look, we moved our industry over seas. We actually paid people to do this. NAFTA put our farmer out of business, and now we eat Mexican tomato with DDT that we cannot use here yet they can use. You figure. (Just an example).

Our technology is wonderful. I am a product (as well as pioneer) into this with 40 years in the business machine industry and pioneered the first FL UPC store.

Common sense, we employ robots to make things. Things are now made. Those not employed cannot buy things with no wage. Robots get laid off.

Printing money does not make wealth. The paper dollar was once a receipt of tangible property. Be it corn, liquor, bread, gold, bullets, silver, or stones, it had backing. Paper money in any denomination costs the same to print. One dollar or 1000 on a piece of paper is worth the same in value. Nothing. Only confidence of the "Faith and Credit of the United States" stands behind it. Well, our credit rating is now down. Faith is in the eye of the beholder. My faith is in my Maker, not our Presidential Vacationer. Not at all in that liar far worse in the lie than the previous liar, Bush.

I am skeptical that we have another election with the Chicago thugs we now have in D.C.. I see Marshal law and a take over. Please check "youtube" as to the rise of National Socialism. You will see then what I see now. History repeated.

I enjoy your posts and your intellect. I will be taking up arms to stay free enough to allow your opinions to be expressed, even though I do not always agree. I believe I just plagiarized Patric Henry.

So, in closing my friend, I agree to disagree with you, but I do agree partially. Will you agree partially with me in that we can still save our Country and reverse this situation? We are not in a recession, but a full blown depression. LOOK AROUND YOU, and forget the main stream news both Liberal and Conservative. Believe your own eyes. 'Hub

        News.

Now if there was ever a joke on our country, it is the news. From national news to local news, it is nothing more than selective coverage of what they want you to know.

As to wealth in our country, there are only 3 things that can bring wealth.

        1. Manufacturing
        2. Mining
        3. Agriculture

These things, and only these things, bring a true source of wealth, and we have pretty much lost 1 & 2 already, with #3 starting to be dominated by big business.

The old phrase of "screwed, blued, and tattooed" comes to mind for us as Americans.

We are in a depression, and we are only in the beginning of it.

As to the political choices, you can argue W, Barry, or whoever. Each and every one of them, including each and every senator and congressman, are guilty of treason.

"1. Cut taxes for the job makers (what Obama refers to as THE RICH.)" Is this guy insane? They already basically have the lowest tax rate since WWII. If you believe this I have a chocolate cake diet that allows you to eat all you want and still lose weight. Supply side economics does NOT work. We had the perfect A/B test. Tax rates under Clinton and those under Bush. Corporations are sitting on record profits - they don't need a tax cut (although reducing the rate to @28% and closing loopholes would be appropriate). The "job creators" are the middle class. They are the ones that buy the goods and services that support our economy - the rich do not. There is a systemic problem with the concentration of wealth in so few. America prospered so much after WWII because of the growing strength and education of the middle class. That has all been in decline for the last several decades. You want to fix the current problem be a realist. Terminate ALL of the Bush tax cuts now! Declare war on energy dependence and create American manufacturing jobs to be a leader in green jobs. End all of the wars now!. Amend the bankruptcy laws to allow people to include their first mortgage so that it can be crammed down to FMV. Perhaps that would get banks to be serious about loan modifications. Declare any compensation package over $1 million to not be a reasonable business expense and thus taxable to a corporation. Require any compensation package that exceeds 100x the average salary for that company to be taxed at higher progressive rates and require approval of the stock holders. Greed has taken over this country. And they are going to kill the real goose that laid the golden egg -- the middle class.

I'm sorry "msm" I have no idea of what side of the coin you are on. NO industry pays taxes AT ALL!! Plain and simple. They simply raise their price to include the extra "expenses". More tax on RICH? No, I have never gotten a job from a poor person. I take my chances with a successful one. Making money to the tune of RICH I admire. However, look at the last Kennedy. Never held a job in his life. RICH due to the criminal acts of his pappa, old Joe.

I agree with some of the convoluted post, as I am confused, and maybe it is just me, but yes, we have been dumbed down. (the current generation and their parents from LBJ et. al.

I agree we became great due to and after WWII. I hope it will not take a WWIII to do the same. It would be too late, if it is not already. 'Bammy has truly succeeded in his mode to make our Country "Fundamentally Changed" Change with no Hope.

I also agree that the golden goose is very sick right now. We, the middle class. Many now becoming the poor and living with their parents, children, or bridge. So many empty houses now, and WHERE THE HELL IS THE NEWS PRESS???? MIA that is where.

'Bammy is outwardly very honest. He tells us what he is doing, changes his mind the next day, courts the unions, enjoys openly his high life, and is an open book to anyone who has eyes, ears, and sense.

Why are the unemployed looking to POTUS for a job? He did not create this mess. This has been in the making for years. Seems the one who complains about gov't intrusion is now looking to gov't for a job. Too funny.

The question is why do the Germans have jobs and can react to changing vocations? The answer is that the German people do not vote against their economic interest regardless of their politics. They have union representation at the companies they work if its 500 or more. Thus, very little jobs shifted to Asia. Germans are savers, live with in their means. Americans in contrast are obscene consumers who have nothing to show for when they did have a job. Americans always vote against their interest which eliminated their voice and safe guards at work and are now overworked doing the job of more than one. We as a nation are very dumb for being uninformed in contrast to the Germans. We have many jobs that can't be filled, because of the lack of skill sets due to spotty retraining infrastructure in contrast to German were they have widespread vocation schools to get folks retrained for new careers.

Americans need to look in the mirror and get a clue.

No problem, it wouldn't be fun if I was too simple.
However, it is an absolute lie that if we cut taxes further on the super rich that it will create jobs. We have been living under the Bush tax cuts for over 10 years -- it hasn't created the jobs. The super rich already have enough money to create/hire people -- they aren't doing it because there is no one out their with money to buy the goods and services that they would try to sell. Actually, the argument can be made that a much higher marginal tax bracket would create jobs. If the marginal tax rate of income over $1 million was say 75% that would give those people a greater incentive to invest and/or hire more people because effectively it would only costs them 25% of the actual cost. The tax code should be used to give people/corporations "incentives" to grow the American economy and do what is good for the country as a whole not a select few. This would require higher tax rates with deductions that do good for society and punitive taxes for actions that harm society.
The middle class is like a frog in a pot with the water warming up that doesn't realize they are going to boil to death. An example is WalMart. They go into a town and put real small business's out of business. They also put competitive pressure on ever other business that suppresses wages for everyone else. Over 90% of WalMart employees make under poverty level income. Yet, last year WalMart made $15 billion in profit -- after taxes -- which all went to a handful of people in Arkansas -- that is not good for this country and society. It is not good when 400 families have more wealth than the bottom 150 million people. The fundamental problem we have is that over the last several decades income has only been growing for the top few while the middle class has stagnated, lost jobs, income and wealth. This economy will not have a real turn around until the foreclosures stop and we make fundamental changes that stops the unbridled greed that is decimating the middle class.

Call me a pessimist but I do not see any short term fix for any of this mess. Government on both sides of the Isle have grown far to big and both parties are obstructionists based on there own political bias. We founded this country by revolting against the oppressive Rule of the Monarchy. We fought the high taxes and for individual freedom and now we are so taxed and controlled by the very government that we created. Seems we need a do-over not more of the same.

ACtually FDR DID pull the US out of the Depression...here is what happened. 1933 - 25% unemployment - down to under 14% by 1937. Republicans pressure FDR to balance the budget - he cuts back on spending, recession comes - by the time the ship of state turns around ww2 comes around, and of course MASSIVE spending. THe WAR did NOT!!! pull the country out of the economic doldrums. SPENDING did and full employment...by...the government. That could have been achieved without war.

There is a lot of intentional DIS-information about FDR - but without he and his folks, we would be speaking German right about now...me, I probably would not have been born. This country owes its prosperity from 1945 through the 80's to the FDR consensus. Like "socialists" like EIsenhower, and Nixon...and yes liberals like JFK and LBJ, etc.

But here is the thing - there is NO - NOT ONE - other nation that is committing economic suicide like the US - Germany isn't, France isn't, Japan isn't, China etc isn't - why - because no one is practicing the mantra of free trade - the UK does, they're even more screwed - to an extent - than we are. Free trade only works for transnational corporations. That is why China does NOT allow free trade and protects its own manufacturing.

And for manufacturing we need protectionism like practiced from 1792-1980's and by EVERY OTHER OECD country.

                              Frogger speaks the truth!!!

Clearly - CLEARLY I'm giving away my political leanings here, but if you all are interested there is a chap I highly recommend. Thom Hartmann http://www.thomhartmann.com/

Yes he's liberal, but he is 100% for protectionism and manufacturing!!! Also, he writes like a book a week...seriously.

Anyway, take a gander :-) He is the ANTI-Freedman....

                              Know where I stand?
