What if you are married, filing single?

In FL we get a measly $1000 personal property exemption and no availability to the wild card if you use the homeowner exemption.

So, I am married, but I will be filing single. How do you split up the personal property? I know I obviously have things that are just "mine" and the same for my husband - things that are just "his", but what about things that we have together? For example: our bedroom furniture - it belongs to both of us, so would I just take the garage sale value and divide it in half?

I haven't met with an attorney yet.

Just wondering if anyone has an answer to this? I know there are people out there who have filed singly. How did you split up your personal property?
