    PACER Question

I just found the following on PACER under my case number------
BNC Certificate of Mailing of Discharge of Debtor---and I'm curious.

Does this indicate that my case is now closed?

No, it means that you're discharged. Your case will not be closed until it is closed. Patience grasshopper......

Glad to help. Discharged means that you are exactly that... discharged of all of the debts. The closing is getting all of the administrative procedures finished.

Always remember..... bk is a process, not an event.

Thanks for this extra info---frogger---and I have to remind myself
that it's most definitely a step-by-step process---and not just an event.

            Plus---justbroke---appreciate your thoughts---and I'm most certainly happy.

Hi---frogger and justbroke---I just got my
official discharge letter from the court.

Does this signify closing or not.

              Thanks---grasshopper.

Not necessarily, but generally, the case is closed at the same time, if it's a no asset case. Just look in PACER and at the top of the screen it should read "Date terminated:".

Thanks for the info---justbroke---and I just checked PACER.

At the top of the docket page---it says------

                  Date of Discharge---2/23/11
Date of last filing----2/25/11---which shows the last
entry under my case number---this being about the
letter which was to be sent---and which I got today.

There's no indication of Date Terminated.

The closing of your bk is an administrative process. You are discharged (happy dance!), and now you are just waiting on it to close. The trustee has to wrap up all of the paperwork and issue the final reports in order for it to close.
