where to find cash deals on cars

Im in Fresno california. Three hours from Los Angeles and 3 hours from the bay area. I don't want to finance another car. Id like to find a great cash deal. Some ideas would be:

Auctions
estate sales
bankruptcy liquidations

Anyone know where to find information on these types of sales?

well... there's options, just depending on how far you want to drive to look at a car; and how picky you are on the car...

here's a few places to look:

craigslist
autotrader
fresno bee (or other papers)

you can also do a google search for "public auto auctions" near you. I know of one here in Nor Cal- but have gone to it; and you can't test drive the cars (only look and start them) and i have read some really awful reviews about the place selling lemons..

I would think craigslist or autotrader is better. Just get a mechanic (unless you're good with cars) to check it out before you buy.

There's a lot of scammers out there.

We bought a car through craigslist a few years ago, and of course the guy had a story. Well, we bought it and put in thousands of work into it- and it still never ran right.

I'm familiar with craigslist and I've driven as far as Los Angeles to buy a car I found on Craigslist because it was what I wanted.

I think that estate sales would be great and I've seen signs at times, but I'd like to get a list of upcoming sales if one is available.

And thru this process, I've learned that some things are going to be auctioned off because of bankruptcy. It would be nice to go to some of those auctions.
