Do I have to wait until discharged to apply for credit/store card or can I try after we are filed. There are some places I shop that give discounts, coupons if you use their card and I hate to miss out on these deals (mostly kids clothing) Its not that I need to pay by credit but would like to take advantage of the deals that are sometimes only valid if paying with their card.

If you have filed but your case isn't discharge and officially closed, you are not to take on any new debt (in other words, get a credit card) without your trustee's permission. Try using coupons and other money-saving deals until your case is closed.Originally posted by ekelly4200 View PostDo I have to wait until discharged to apply for credit/store card or can I try after we are filed. Frankly it would be a miracle if anyone gave you a credit card before discharge anyway. Since you are pre-discharge, depending on your state, the new card could potentially be included in your bankruptcy and any balance wiped out. No company in their right mind would give you a card right now.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
