New Kid here.
We are in the middle of an interesting situation and I heard this was the place to come for some BTDT and expert advice. We are in VA and filed April 29th. Our 341 is on June 5th. 7 DAYS later the Navy is moving us to hawaii on military orders.
We are discharging our two cars, so obviously arent taking them to hawaii. We are renting a minivan when we get there, but we have 5 kids so it had to be a minivan which is $1500 per month (no kidding...
). If possible, since we will be buying a new car as soon as we can, we would like to get into a vehicle so we can stop hemorrhaging that money.
I see some people getting car loans with an pre-discharged CH7, anyone know what is the best way to find them? Just go dealer to dealer and see who will take us? Our income is high, our vehicle history is good, no late or missed payments. We have never financed with a car company because we got better rates through our military credit unions (none of which will approve us again, obviously...).
The other thing I am worried about is anyone approving us for enough money to get a car to fit us all. I would love the payments of a Saturn ION, but with 5 children in car seats it NEEDS to be a minivan or three row SUV. Will they take that into consideration? is it better to get new? Or slightly used? Or very used?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
