One of the steps I learned here from other posters regarding strategic preparation is to ERASE all bank account information linked to my Credit Cards. I used to pay all of my CC's online, using my primary checking account. For all of my cards, this process was smooth with the exception of Bank of America. When I attempted to delete my bank account information from Bank of America, this popped up:
We're sorry, the account you are trying to delete is the one selected as your preferred account. You must first provide a different U.S. checking or money market account as a funding source for your Net Access/Online Banking account(s). After adding this new preferred account, you may delete your current account.
Now, I also had a BOA checking account with a zero balance, so I simply added that one, confirmed it by waiting for BOA to make a small deposit and notify them of the amount, and then delete my primary checking account....But I wanted to post this as a warning to anyone in the process of trying to delete their payment information.
