Adding Creditor to BK after 341, but before discharge????

Just got an unsettling surprise, i think....

Received a letter from a collection agency trying to collect on behalf of another CC company. The CC company is a card that my wife had and I was almost certain that it was on the BK. I went back and looked at our (joint) credit report and the CC company's name was nowhere to be found. How can that be? We hadn't paid them in over a year and it should be on our credit report anyway, right?

Anyway, anyone know if it is difficult to add a creditor after completing the 341, but before discharge?

    Thank you...

All you have to do is have your attorney, if you used one, amend your scedules and add the creditor to your list. This will cost about $26.00, no matter whether you add one or a zillion.

It might also be someone from a membership co-op such as Sam's Club. I had a membership that had not been renewed since 2004 and so did not have it listed in the Creditor Matrix. Nevertheless, a collection agency filed papers to be notified of the progress of our case.

When we called the agency and talked to them, we found that my membership card had also had a line of credit attached to it. This we did not know, and I had never used it as such. When we explained this to the person, we also said that we had never renewed the membership when it expired in 2004, and had never gotten any statements or billings in the mail.

The agency was fine with that and filed paperwork removing themselves from our case.

    I hope this helps.
