I just talked to a law office about setting up a free consult. They told me that with all the minimum payments going up, they are swamped and they are booked solid for the month of March..I would have to set it up for April........ has anybody else had similiar results. I know this board is full of those who have already filed, and those who haven't yet.

Looks like another surge in filings is about to occur. I'll cuss them for what they have done, but best thing in the world for me right now is to get this behind me.

It's not surprising with the minimums being doubled. I noticed some of my creditors go with an every other month larger payment. On my Filenes acct one month the minimum is $10 and the next $71 and back again? Pretty weird if you ask me!

We've already retained our attny, thank goodness!!

And we're working on his packet and getting our stuff together.

Taking it a bit slow, tho, as we are trying to stretch to the 70/90 days.

70's not a problem. Already there. 90 is a different story all together.

New rule in the New Law.

Cash advances under 70 days and over $700, and CC purchases under 90 days and over $500 for luxury goods, the burden of proof for Credit Card Fraud falls on the borrower. After the 70/90 days, the burden of proof shifts to the CC company.

I have not used any credit since December! I am so proud of myself! I've kind of been living off my income tax return and only been making minimum payments which I think I will stop doing after my meeting with Atty on Saturday!

One thing that gives me hope is the knowledge that people can and do live without using there credit cards. I have charged a few things, but no cash advances in the past 90 days. The only card I have used in the past 90 days will be paid off prior to filing.
