I hope to get my BK discharged tomorrow... And i need a car! used of course under $8,000 something i can afford and pay off in less then 3 years. Has anyone gotten financing just a few days after discharge? Been looking on autotrader.com not sure if i should secure a loan before i go by a car through the internet or let the used car dealerships work with me?

You can purchase a car the day after your discharge. Many of us would advise to acquire your own financing, like Capital One Blank Check, because this gives you the power to shop around and find the best car for the best price. Letting the dealership acquire the financing can sometimes result in ridiculously high interest rates. I'm not saying you shouldn't allow the dealership to try and help you. I am saying that you should look at every option available to you. Some dealerships can get the financing, and with the right terms, while others may take advantage of you.
If you hired an attorney, you can even ask him/her if they can recommend any dealerships that offer a "Fresh Start Program". We have a dealership in my area that has a good history of helping those with credit problems, and some dear friends of mine were able to get financed the day after they were discharged. Their attorney even went through the trouble of faxing over a copy their discharge to the dealership. They got a great vehicle, for a good price and with fairly decent terms.Bankruptcy History:

I am hoping and praying that you see your Dicharge notice at the end of today on PACER. However, if it doesn't show up for two or three days, don't be concerrned, as from reading here on this forum, the clerical work seems to be running behind.
Now about the car, do you have, or can you get enough cash to buy one outright and not have a payment? You can see some real nice deals on the side of the road by private sellers. We bought a '93 Pontiac at auction that had been a former police car for $800.00. Low odometer reading, but high idle time. We put in a couple tires and alternator for about $200.00 and it is running good. Gets good gas mileage, too.
Good luck to you."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

You could try to apply ASAP, but I would suspect that the discharged status would not "hit" your credit report for at least a month. You may have to print out and forward a copy of your discharge to the lender. That's not to say you wouldn't get financed without having to do any leg work, but rather, something you may have to do to show proof that your debts are gone.
