currently in a lease that ends in november - filing bk7 paperwork this week - ive read on here how difficult it is to get something afterwards - how possibly would it be to negotiate a purchase option for my current lease instead of turning it in and trying for something new? would the dealer be less critical on that, since i have payment history with this vehicle?

I would try this..
When I went to my first consultation with a BK attorney, I told her that my lease ended in a couple of months. She said to try and get a new vehicle now, before filing if I could, especially if my credit was not too bad yet (I have been paying all bills except my mortgages).
I went and applied with RoadLoans and my credit union. Both approved me, Roadloans did 14.09% and my credit union did 5.24%, so of course I used my credit union and on Saturday I purchased an '08 Nissan Quest for $19000 out the door and I turned in my Honda lease a bit early. My payments are better ($367/mo) and I probably did better this time of year because of the new models and rebates out trying to get rid of the old ones.
Won't hurt to try BEFORE filing!

It doesn't hurt much to try after either, I was discharged on the 12th of this month and have been approved by 3 dealerships since the 14th, mostly with cap one but approved fro up to almost 40K, 10.99% but approved none the less. all depends on your situation i guessFiled ch7 on 5/1

This is a good question because I am 'somewhat' in the same scenario. I filed CH7 and discharged (see sig below). My Toyota lease is up December. Am I pretty much guaranteed that they WILL NOT work with me in keeping the car?
Is there any auto financing out there for me? I am not looking for a Escalade or BMW. Heck, I am fine with a 5000 car if need be.
Has anyone completed their discharge to find they were unable to move a lease to a purchase?
P.S. Sorry to steal the thread - but we are kinda in the same boat.Filed: 01/23/08
