Just wanted to let everyone know that I was approved for an apartment with $0 deposit and I haven't even been discharged yet!
I almost fell out my chair when she told me. That will totally help me with my moving expenses! There is hope everyone!! Not just awaiting discharge!

I also think more people are filing bk. The new law did not slow down bk's at all. If apartments want tenants they are going to have to rent to them. They cannot afford to be snooty, it appears. I am starting to think that there are many others out there just like us. Plus, all these people bought homes during the so called housing boom. Many over bought. Check out the rows and rows of McMansions that pulte and ryland have built. Now, those homeowners can't afford their taxes, mortgage, and their gas costs have risen dramatically. So what do they do...they walk. I talked to a lady the other day who delivers mail. She said she cannot figure out anymore which homes are even occupied. People move out in the middle of the night. I am currently taking a college level sociology class, and is it ever interesting. Americans bought these big houses to impress other people who have big houses that neither one can afford. I mean it is almost funny, if it were not so true!!!!!!

I have a friend like that. When I told her there was a house in a small sub I would like to move in to, she was almost offended and asked why didn't I move into this sub where the houses were in 300's - 400's because they were much nicer, (she has a home that should can not afford and it didn't even cost that much) I told her they are nice but I can't afford that and expect to have any money to live. People are so worried about what others think and are always competing, I am glad I don't live my life worrying about other peoples opinion of me. What is your opinion on that? just kiddingOriginally posted by debtisbadAmericans bought these big houses to impress other people who have big houses that neither one can afford. newstart,
people are offended and I really do not know why. When I attend my sons baseball practices, the other moms want to know where I live. I just say "over by x park". But, they continue, what subdivision do you live in? Are you on the golf course. I mean it goes on and on. I swear I just do not get it. It is almost like they do not want to be my friend unless I have a 400k house. Finally, I told one lady "I have the cheapest house in this city, just so I know I can sell it anytime I want too". She was aghast that I had the "cheapest" house. Too funny!!! Next time, I am going to tell them I bought a used camper. That ought to get the moms going. Hey, maybe it will give them something to talk about!!!

well debtis, my old supervisor lived on a golf course, he finally put a sign on the patio door, "there is nothing left to steal".
I live in "Welleby" supposedly an "upscale" area of Sunrise, barking dogs, noisy hindus next door, the idjot behind me finished his own permitless roof two weeks pre-Wilma and EVERY shingle blew off. The hell with upscale, I've always tended toward good neighborhood lower cost in the good neighborhood, but the hell with townhomes and zero lot lines, dang the drug dealers in North Miami were the quietest neighbors I ever had!
I put those types off anyway, I tend to find what gets under their skin and offend, they never ask a second time.
Tdder congrats, that has to be a load off of your mind.Last edited by robivi3; 09-13-2006, 04:27 PM."You once asked me for advice. You want some now? Never pass up a good thing." Lieutenant Jean Rasczak, Starship Troopers

almost two years ago we bought the house we are in now. Nicer neighborhood, two story, 4 bedroom, big yard. We thought we always wanted the bigger house. Well, guess what? Reality slap, we miss our old neighborhood and our old neighbors. Our old house was a 3 br rambler with a paved alley in the back (great for kids and bikes). Our neighbors were "wrench guys" and always had a loud engine revving and the other neighbors were always putting a beer in my hand and asking me to come on over.
Here, it's so....stuffy. I wish we could go back to "the hood" lol. I miss my old neighbors!
Tip of the day--sometimes LESS is MORE!!!

Miss Puff. I can just picture your wonderful old neighborhood - sounds just like one we lived in years ago when our kids were small. Our neighbors were a real mix of personalities and ages - we talked over the back fences, watched each other kids, took meals over when someone was ill...the best kind of neighborhood. Even 20 years later, I still have great memories of those special friends.
No matter how carefully think over what we think we want, sometimes it does end up not being what we want at all. Where's that darned crystal ball when we need one????
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

miss puff,
You took the words right out of my mouth!!! I always wanted the dream house. I got it alright and it has been the nightmare from....It was too darn big. I couldn't keep it clean. Couldn't find anything. The kids had their stuff from one end of the house to the other. I had 20 foot ceilings (sure wouldn't want the electric bill from that these days!) Funny thing is they are still building tons of those kind of houses, but I think the market is changing. If I ever have my dream house and neighborhood again it will be the one you described. Life is more than showey houses!!!
