    credit reports

Could anyone tell me how far back you should dispute inquries? I only have 2 this year, but a lot from 2006 and 2005, is it important to get those off? Also while checking my credit report I see a tool company has us written off as a charge off, but it was in our bankruptcy, how do I dispute that? and another question, can I dispute inquries that I didn't personally give an o.k. too, but my husband did in a co-app sorta thing? So many questions, so little time.
    Thanks a bunch

Since no one else had answered I'll give it a shot!

Personally I would'nt worry about the enquires. They loose relavance after 12 months, and fall off after 2 years. With a bk on your report the enquires pale in comparison.

As far as the tool company, dispute as included in bk. Some would suggest disputing as "not mine", that tactic has worked for me in the past.

    Good Luck!

You can not dispute inquiries if you applied for a loan and/or credit. If you didn't apply with that lender, then you can have it removed.

Sometimes, creditors will get your credit report in order to make you a firm offer of credit (phone or mail solicitations). These are a soft pull and do not effect your credit and fall off shortly. If you'd like to stop this, you can OPT OUT with the credit bureau's and these types of inquiries should stop and/or fall off a bit. When you look at your inquiries, you should see a code next to it. You can look at what that code means and that should tell you what kind of inquiry it was.
