A New CC To Try For: GE Money Cards

    Here is the link: http://www.gemoney.com/personal/credit_cards/index.html

I applied for the Cash Back rewards card, and was approved for $4,500. Its not my best limit, but its a really nice card. 0% for 12 months, no annual fee, and 1% cash back on all purchases. Not bad eh?

So do you ignore the part where it tells you that you should meet the following when you apply?

Applicant Information - Before you apply, you should be able to answer "Yes" to the following:
    #
My credit history is clear of bankruptcy and seriously delinquent accounts.
    #
I have NOT been denied credit by GE Money within the last 6 months.

          Filing...

Can I ask what is your current score? I have gotten some decent cards, but I am afraid of being turned too many times and too many inquiries. Any thoughts there?

It's just that THAT subject has been here before, about honestly answering the question you pointed out, and somehow it usually seems to turn into criticizing or questioning the integrity of those who obviously filed bk but applied anyway. Ya'll do what you want to do - I'm going fishing!

Fishing sounds like a great idea! I'd buy you a six-pack and beg to tag along if I lived in KY

We had a store acct backed by GEMB going into BK. $0 balance. Not included in our BK. GEMB closed our acct with them.

Since Discharge, I applied for a PayPal CC, which turned out to be backed by GEMB. Declined.

So far, our experience with GEMB and having filed BK has not been positive.

FOMO is much further out from filing BK so maybe that makes a difference??!!

I ALWAYS ignore all that crap. You will be turned down for 90% of prime credit products with a BK. But this is not a prime card. The worst anyone can do is say no. The only near guaranteed turndowns with a bk are amex, citi, and chase.

                        Why is there a "BUT"?

                        Yes but what?

                        It's a credit line with $2200.00 - what's wrong with Juniper - don't they report?

Nothing wrong with it. I didn't know if the poster was aware of the issuer of the card.

The interesting thing is, if you go to mastercard.com and find a "personal card" they will ask you if you currently have a CC (yes) and have you ever filed bk (yes) 5 of the 14 suggested cards are Chase! Leads you to believe they are bk friendly..

Seems to me that if you apply for a card and are accepted that you go for low credit limits. Sometimes high cc limits can get people at the same place they started. I would assume that a low limit cc would be just as good in helping boost one's credit score than one with a high cc limit--being that the sole purpose really, afterall, should be to get the cards to "help" with improving credit worthiness.

Cap1 approved me for a 2200 limit; however, after contacting them, I had my limit decreased to 500 simply because I didn't want to be tempted.

However, I'm in no way saying you or anyone else is tempted to use your cards all the time to the limit of maxing them out...
