    Can you start re-building before you file? Capital One is screwy

    My credit scores are in my signature and I got a pre-approved Capitol One Platinum Mastercard offer today in the mail.

    You're pre-approved for this Capitol One Platinum Mastercard offer. We've recently reviewed your credit information, and we've designed an offer we believe is the right one for you...right now. There is no annual fee, so act now.

    APR: 0% through April 2008, then 12.9% adjustable.
    Grace period: 25 Days
    Average Daily Balance Method
    Minimum Finance Charge: $0.50
    Membership Fee: $0

    We do not engage in the practice of Universal Default...

    Should I even consider responding to the offer? It's good for a free laugh and a Credit Report when they turn me down!

    Is there any potential down-side to getting this card and leaving it unused as far as filing for BK at some future date?

    I wonder what the chances are of getting the card and still having it after everything is done with.

    Amazing...
    Discharged November 2008 100 days after filing no-asset Chapter 7. We intended to let a two-year-old vehicle go back to the bank and reaffirm an inexpensive ten-year-old SUV and our home mortgage. In the end we surrendered ALL of our vehicles and reaffirmed NOTHING. We'll "ride through" our mortgage after the court ruled it an undue hardship.

    Even with a zero balance, they may close it when they find out you file. They can find our easy by doing an account review pull on your credit report, so there's not much chance that it will survive, though it is possible.
    Filed CH7 - 10/13/05;
    341 Meetings: 11/28/05, 3/20/06, 12/4/07 (3d time's a charm!)
    Converted: 2/15/06 (to CH13), 10/15/07 (Back to CH7)
    DISCHARGED: 2/15/08

      Obviously they pulled your credit info a few months ago to offer you that. When you accept the offer there still gonna see your credit score and decline you. Based of your signature.
