Free but Need Help..Credit Scores 594(TU), 648 (EQ), 690 (EX)

Well, It's been a long road, but my husband and I made it!!! I mean our story is not unlike the others we've heard, but we've been blessed we paid monthly on time into our plan even when one of us was unemployed for over 9 months

But here is the trick - Somehow when month 58 came in August '07 a call to the Trustee to get amount for payout the Trustee informed us that our 13 would go past 60 months actually 5 months past the 60 Well that was a HUGE SHOCK!!!!! Well a call to our attorney was made lighting fast, and he said hold off making another payment...well in the meantime, the trustee filed a motion, our attorney filed a motion and GRACE, BLESSINGS and patience perserved, and we recieved our discharge letter on JANUARY 27, 2008.

I had been a little embrased about filing 13, so I was a little late on the credit clean up and really only started that the day our discharge letter arrived. So I purchased the TrueCredit Report with Score ($15.00ish) and the MyFico Complete ($35.00ish) used promo code.

Scores on MyFico are 594 (TU), 648 (EQ), 690 (EX); disputing items on TransUnion report.

What I need help with now is purchase of a new car. My husbands car is a 1984 Acura - purchased in 2001 and I have a 1997 Ford Explorer - purchased in 2002. We've had to get a new the engine for the Ford, and spend approximately $2-3k yearly since being in Chapter. With the pain being slightly over, we need a new car. History in Aug. '07 before paying another $2k in repairs I tried to get a loan - Denied from CapOne and RoadLoans. Well needless to say that hurt but we really need 1 good car to get to a from work so we're back in the market to purchase another car.

Not sure which way to turn. Should we go back to applying online or go to a dealer? And does anyone know a dealer or financing company that BK Friendly in Metro-Atlanta?

You might have luck with a dealer, but before racking up inquiries, is everything reading correctly? Make sure your reports are as clean as possible before going for it

Disputed with Experian now everything is reading correctly. Disputed with Equifax still awaiting update to 2 items. Disputed with TransUnion and well things are moving in a very interesting direction, so long short is that from 1 disputed item they deleted that account instead of fixing the report, 1 disputed items still awaiting update.

Do you have funds to buy another used vehicle? I would suggest you buy from a person rather than a dealer. Usually, they'll screw you over on price of a used vehicle and the interest rate would be unbearable if your score is low... believe me, I know from experience.

Another suggestion, check the credit unions around your area for an loan. My local credit union has a loan program specifically to help people get their credit rating up. Interest rates are decently low and if I remember correctly, your bankruptcy has absolutely nothing to do with the loan eligibility.

        Hope that helps, good luck...

We do have money for a downpayment and possibly a reliable 5k-8k personal saler. I'm just searching for options, this is one. But my hope is to repair my credit and not have a 20% interest rate. So maybe like 'Coma' stated I'll continue to clean-up the CR and just be patience until TransUnion and Equifax report accurately.

That's what we're doing. We really need a newer car, and I don't want to spend more than 15k, plus our down payment, but I'm trying to be patient, because I do not want to bescewed over at this point or be pressured into a vehicle I don't want or is more than I want to spend!
