what to include with disputes on credit report

I was discharged last week. I am ready to dispute the accounts not updated.

I know that I need to include a cover letter. I will include a list of disputed items with name of creditor, account number on report, and reason for dispute. Do I need to include my discharge paper? Do I need to include the creditor scheldule page that includes the creditors that I am disputing to prove they were included in the bankruptcy? I want to include enough to make them take action but not enough to put my other info at risk.

Also, I have a home that was reposessed in 2003. When I called the number on my old bills (same as listed on credit report address of creditors list) and it was another company now who had no record of us. Should I dispute this account as not mine?

I'd say yes!! I have been disputing alot lately, and I included those items with the first wave of letters I sent out. Most of my disputes were resolved the first time around since I gave them more than enough verification as to what I was trying to get fixed. Believe me...they know more about you than you realize. Over documenting is much easier than not supporting your claim enough!

As for Experian...they say that they only accept online disputes. But there is an address for sending in supporting documentation:

    Experian
    PO Box 9556
    Allen, TX 75013

I disputed online and sent my proof (discharge papers, certificate of service, etc...along with proof of residency (an electric bill) and a copy of my ID) and I've had nothing but success.

    Good luck!

They may SAY they only accept online, but according to the FCRA act, they still must accept disputes via mail.

I believe they are only liable for the 30 day dispute window if the dispute is received via mail. All of my disputes thus far have been sent via the USPS as Certified return receipt and everything has worked great!
