    credit score question

I have recently received my discharge
I am current on my 1st and 2nd mortgage and my car payment

Since I no longer have any CC's will the above 3 help repair my credit overtime

or should I apply for the Orchard Bank CC offer I received in the mail

    thanks

You should be fine with what you have.

However, which chapter of BK did you file.

If you filed a Chapter 7, did you do a reaffirmation agreement with your mortgage company and car finance company?

You will want to pull your credit report and see what kind of notation your Mortgage and car finance company have listed relative to the debt. Without signing a reaffirmation agreement, the creditor can list your debt as "included in BK". Had you signed a reaffirmation agreement, your creditor would list your debt as "paid as agreed" (which is a far better entry than "included in BK").

Even if you didn't sign a reaffirmation agreement, if the creditor shows "included in BK", you will want to dispute that entry. However, you dispute may or may not be succeed.

          reason

The reason for not reaffirming secured debt was that a letter from my attorney to one of my mortgage holders was that the bankruptcy judge in NJ did not allow reaffirmation on secured properties.

Just received discharge how long or soon should I start checking my credit report

and I guess I will call my attorney and question him about reaffirmation

Give your self about 45 days from discharge to start disputing credit report entries. Don't worry about calling your lawyer, if your discharged, its too late for a reaffirmation. Just go ahead and dispute any "included in BK" entries on secured debts (i.e. car and mortgage) that you are still paying as normal.

On a secured/ non-reaffirmed debt that I am current on, what do I want it to say on the credit report? If it is listed as "included in bankruptcy", what am I trying to get it changed to? Thanks

If you were never in default, you want it to read as
                  "Paid" or
                  "Paid as Agreed"
