    Credit Reporting Question

Hi... I am hoping someone can answer my question. I just checked my husbands credit report. His scores are all mid 600's. Now, our bankruptcy, which is due to discharge on Tuesday, is reported in the public record section, however his 3 accounts that we included in bankruptcy (credit union accounts, are not showing included in bankruptcy, and are still reporting late payments. Also, our mortgage (1st and 2nd) are not showing in bankruptcy either. So onto my question, I know the formally they do not have to say this until we are discharged, but once they do, will his score go down? Also, should I dispute the lates now??

    Thanks so much!

I disputed mine right after I filed. The got corrected to state 0IIB.

Will his score drop?? If that is his score with the BK, it might go up a tiny bit, but not by much. And if you were late prior to filing BK, I think they can report late upto the time of filing.

Supposedly they CAN and will show the late payments (as late as they were) before filing bk. Mine show 90-150 days late AND discharged in bankruptcy.

However, go ahead and dispute them. Sometimes you get lucky and they drop off completely. I had that happen with a couple accounts I disputed. So if they do not drop them off, try again in a couple months.

Best way to rebuild is to get a free annual credit report and dispute as much as you can with each credit bureau. THEN you can continue to access the reports via their web sites and every month or so try disputing again. They may then require you to dispute in writing with some kind of proof. Do it. As long as you keep disputing, you can get constant free access to your reports ... AND something may drop off just by mistake or negligence on their part.

Wait until at least 2 to 3 months after discharge and reobtain all three credit reports. That will give the CRA and creditors time to get the information into and reported on the credit reports. Then you start cleaning it up. If you start too early, it could just take you longer, especially if they are not yet reporting correctly. Learn not to be in a rush when it comes to anything related to a BK. While everyone wants to try to fix things right away, it will take a few years before the credit score is half way decent and many years for the credit report to return to normal, if all future payments of all bills, etc. are made on time.

Thank you for the replies. The lates that are showing have actually been reported AFTER we filed in January, and they are still reporting late, so that is 6 months of lates so far, that should not be on there.
          I appreciate everyone's advice! =)
