Got a new checking account at a different bank the last week of June on advice of attorney. Did NOT apply for a credit card. Just needed a place where my health insurance auto debit could come out safely and we could pay our bills, without also owing anything there.
Filed BK Ch7 July 9.
TODAY, my husband gets a call from the new bank and says we have already been approved for a credit card at like 1.5% interest and they will go ahead and send it out today!!!!
He didn't know what to do - was so surprised - told her he'd have to think about it since we just paid off the last of our credit cards (did not mention BK).
But shouldn't they have known about our BK? Would it have been on a Credit Report by now?
Is this something we could even do or is it against the law in some way? NOT to use it of course, at least not prior to discharge - but would it be ok to accept it - in the hope that it might survive?
