    Rebuilding Question

I just recently filed Chapter 7 and it was discharged in January 2004. My situation is as follows:

Right before by bankruptcy was filed, I found an apartment, not quite sure if they ran my credit. However, I have an apartment.

After the bankruptcy, I still have my car (reaffirmation), up to date on my school loan, no past due utilities (or any other bills for that matter).

So my positives on my credit right now are my car and school loans. Is that enough to rebuild my credit without trying to apply for a credit card?

I currently have no credit cards. I have two checking accounts, both of which I use my debit cards (with the Visa and Mastercard logos), to make purchases.

Also, I was concerned about re-establishing credit to buy a house. I heard about the 2 years of waiting before you can have real estate in your name. I also heard that it is you have to have two consecutive rental leases in your name before purchasing real estate. Which is it? I have been in my place for exactly one year now (2 months before bankruptcy was discharged). Are those two months included with the year, or is it exactly when the BK was discharged?

    rental history

rental history would be in total for months rented, not just after BK discharge. I think that most places look for at least 2 or 3 positive tradelines on a credit report after BK. Whether or not it is a credit card I don't think matters as long as it is a positive payment history to show you have reestablished yourself financially.
