Trying to come up with a Financial Goal.

We just filed BK and should be discharged by Nov 15. SO now we are trying to form a Financial Plan. I want to make sure we NEVER get off track like we did. (granted we were right on track and then life hit us with some major unexpected happenings )

    SO here is some info...

We are doing a redemption Loan on our Saturn 2002 L200. It has 50,000 miles on it. Our payments are going to drop to $330.00 a month. BUT the air is working when it feels like it grrrr.. and it has a leak some where in the trunk This is a pretty new car and I have taken really good care of it, it is just a CHEAP Saturn.... I am no longer a Saturn fan LOL plus it gets so so gas mileage. I went car shopping for gas mileage and found that I love the VW Diesels, they get amazing gas mileage and there is no extra sound or smell from the Diesel. Not to mention the Golf is nicely priced.

BUT we want to buy a house in the next two years. SO we need to keep our debt down so we can qualify on our limited income. SO should we try to traid our car in and get a new car in the next year or so. OR should we hold on to my smelly Saturn and just pay it off and deal with the problems as they roll in on it. We will only owe $7,450.00 on the Saturn once the papers go through on the redemption. I just read that Tinroofrusted was able to get a used car only 8 months after BK and the payments are less than my new ones and it is a newer car than the Saturn we have! I was at VW the other day and they had a couple Diesel Bugs that were only 1 year old and asking only $15,000 for them and if we take our timet he dealer said we could get a Golf Diesel used for less than that.

Just looking for some diffrent arguments to the pros and cons to trading car in and some input on diffrent stratagies for getting into a new home! Also one last question... will we still be able to use a VA loan even though we filed BK? Or will they not help us now?

    Thanks a million...
