    Anyone have problems with Equifax

Well transunion I have been doing pretty good with cleaning up my report, but equifax. They continue to report inaccurate information, and tell me to dispute it with the creditor and it is not their problem. I was just wondering can they do this? Are they not the ones who it is their responsibility to verify and report accurate information. So do they just go by whatever the creditor feeds them? I just disputed stuff on my equifax report online last month, and just got the review in the mail today, and they state they have updated all requested investigated items. Well most they reported had been recorded accurately. But then next to them it states any further questions contact the creditor. Anyway when I go to do another online dispute, well I notice that the dispute form doesn't list all the stuff on my credit report, ironically only the stuff that is accurate, what the heck! It then states that any other information that is not listed on this dispute form would have to be disputed by mail, or phone.

Yeah, they get sneaky like that.

File a complaint with the BBB and see what happens.

I've heard that disputing in writing is better than online-don't know why! The CRA has to submit a request for verification from the creditor-if the creditor answers within 30 days that it is correct-the CRA leaves it.

I also have heard to dispute specifics inaccuracies, like "I don't owe $5129 to Discover" as you may owe $4174... Sometimes, things will get removed for having errors, rather than just a vague 'please verify'.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I have done this with both TransUnion and Experian, and have gotten the results that I wanted. After 6 months of disputing inaccuracies, it took TEN BUSINESS DAYS after I filed a complaint with the BBB.

          Funny how that works.

I should have thought of it because I have done that on a couple of issues, just didn't think of it with the credit agencies. I tend to think that they will follow the law...

I think that if anything, they break the law more easily and more often because it's harder for people to prove they are breaking the law!
