In order to dispute items on my credit reports do i necessarily have to obtain the reports from all 3 cra's themselves? Because i just obtained all 3 reports from a credit monitoring service in a side by side layout. can i use these to dispute by mail?????????????????? also i was told that a mortgage lender can help clean up credit reports is this true?????

The point of obtaining a copy of your credit report from all three CRA's, is because you want all the reports to reflect the same information. Dispute items on your credit report in writing. Send all correspdence via certified mail. Include a header on each letter your type, that states: "Delivered Via Certified Mail"

I know that in the past....some creditors, such as mortgage lenders would assist in some of the leg work, towards getting certain derogatory comments removed from ones credit report. I'm not certain how common this practice is nowadays though. Regardless...you can easily do perform all the credit clean work yourself. :-)

    Good Luck!

down&out, Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have heard some people state that it "takes too long and they request too much obscure info." when disputing on line. About how long did it take on the website to do the dispute? 30 minutes - 3 hours??? What kind of info do you have to have handy?
Glad that yours went well using this method, however, the one problem which still exists is that if it did not go well, you have no documentation.
        Thanks again, Art

I *think* its recommended to do everything in writing so you can document your efforts.

As to the OP's question, as long as you're seeing what is wrong with each report, I don't think it matters if you get it directly from TU/EX/EQ or if you use one of the monitoring services that gives you the merged report. What you DON'T want to do is assume all your reports are the same, so you only work on one rather than all 3.

PS-I've done some efforts online & some by mail. I've made some good progress, though I still feel disorganized.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

It took me about an hour for each credit agency. I had about 25 on each CRA to dispute. EX is the easiest by far.

TU and EQ took about an hour and a half. But it is very easy and fast.

Also - note that after I did the first round I had to re-dispute 3 or 4 on each report plus new accounts kept poping on there With a simple dispute they were gone in a matter of days.

You will find that each EX resolves most issues in less than a week. TU takes about a week and EQ takes 2-3 weeks.

            Hope this helps

i assume you guys are trying to foul them up and get the debt removed for time infractions or the like?

isnt it true that if you just want to clean the entire thing up cant you just send the petition to the CRA and show them each account. that should clear the entire slate in one swipe. maybe 3 times max if you get some diddle head. however, you then have no change of changing that or getting it deleted as you maybe can if you play the other 'obscure' games like most of us are doing to see what we can get away with.

              thanks

I signed up for a trial, back in October and did my disputes online...it was fast and got the results I wanted, right now they are ALL reporting "Included in BK Petition".
As for people saying you don't have documentation for your disputes, just print out your dispute BEFORE you send it online...That's what I did, and you get a confirmation number...so I don't see what the issue is?? Once we get our discharge papers, we plan on subscribing to a site, not sure which on yet.

pinkie amuletie, truecredit seems good to me. if you follow stacis method for skipping the starting fee and then use the walmart link to get the cheaper monthly fee then its only $7.50 or so a month with 24 hour pulls.

but if everything is reporting correct so far then maybe wait 6 months and save that money for a pink teddy for your husband to return the favor

                  ($7.50 x 6 months is $45)

There are rumors that Myfico will soon have an unlimited pull option. Not sure of the details, or when...
