    Capital One Called

Welp after my case being closed, getting my tax return and spending it to pay off my new credit cards lol, and car repairs, I find out I'm being evicted next month because my place is being sold. Whatever, if its not one thing its another, right?

So, I applied for a capital one card, and they called me today to verify the 'annual household income' that I submitted on my application. Has anyone else gotten a call like this? Does it mean I'm getting the card?

Odd that they would call you and not your employer.

Unless you are your employer. LOL

I can honestly say anytime anyone has ever called to verify income, they've always contacted our employers. They've never called us.

I got the exact same call last week after applying online for the Capital One card. I didn't really expect to be approved, I recently got a Visa and a Mastercard through HSBC with a $300 and $500 limit, but they each had $59 annual fees. I figured I'd try Capital One because I had one years ago (not included in my BK). I called the toll free number they gave me a couple days after they called to verify my income, and it said I was approved and would receive my card by March 24th. I don't know what the limit is or anything like that, but I believe it is for the $19 annual fee card that they offer. I didn't receive an invitation in the mail, I just applied on my own on their website.

Good luck in getting the card! After just getting the one HSBC card for $300 and having it reported on my credit report, my scores jumped 50 points! Now I am well into the mid-600's for FICO. By the way, the HSBC card showed up on my credit reports within 3 weeks of getting them in the mail! I read on some other posts that they were slow to report, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Just to update my post, I got my Capital One card in the mail today. I called to activate it and was told the limit is $1,000, with a $19 annual fee and about a 15% interest rate. I am 7 months post Ch 13, and I am very happy to have gotten a card with one of the major banks. Hopefully after some time as my credit improves, I can upgrade to one of their no fee cards.

I am not carrying balances on any of the cards I have, just using them for monthly expenses and paying them off when the bill comes.

Thats awesome nk29! I hope I get a 1,000 card from cap. one. Can you say new computer? I can. That would be so nice. Then I'd pay it off in 2 months.

Don't be down on yourself about it "only" being $300, look at it as a great thing that you got approved! With Capital One, I am sure they review the account often and grant increases if you keep the account in good standing. Just use the 3 cards you have to pay monthly expenses that you can afford to pay right off, and you will eventually get the higher credit limits as your credit improves.

The only downside of having this $1,000 limit Capital one card is that they don't report credit limits, and for me to charge $1,000 on it for one month's expenses, I don't have that many bills I can pay with a credit card! I would like to max it out once and pay it right off just so the high balance is reported, but I am having a hard time because my biggest expense is my rent, and I can't charge that. It's not like I can go out and afford to make a $1,000 purchase because I don't have enough disposible income to pay that off

Hey, I just wanted to comment, I got something in the mail today from Capital One that said if I used my card in the first 90 days, paid the bill on time for 3 billing cycles, and didn't go over my limit in that time, that I would get a $500 credit increase. So, I definitely think you can get that limit raised in no time!

Also, I went online to check out the fees associated with my account, and I realized I don't have an annual fee on my card. I am so happy about that
