    This can't be right...

I got a pre-selected card offer in the mail yesterday for an unsecured platnium mc ($59 annual fee, no other fees). My middle score is only 512 right now and I'm still waiting on my discharge. Are these people out of their minds? Anyway, can I even get approved for a card before my discharge goes through?

You can. I did as well as many others. But for you, I don't think its a good idea at this point being your discharge has already been delayed over a month.

Being "pre-selected" doesn't mean you'll actually get that card. Be careful what you apply for. Best of luck!

I recommend not taking the card.

In my case I waited about 5 months and cleaned up my credit report. I noticed about every two months the Capital one offers lowered their annual fee. Eventually I got a preapproved offer for a no fee cap one card. Since then I have received a no fee hooters card, a no fee target card, a no fee GEMB bank "care credit" card, and I just got approved for a no fee Racetrack (Juniper) card.

There is no reason to pay an annual fee. If you just hold off you will be glad you did.

Also, I would hold off until after the discharge just for good measure.
