I currently am awaiting dismissal papers for my Chapter 13 (THANK GOD)... been waiting 4 months but that's another story.
My question is if there was never a claim made from a creditor. Which is the case with a lot of my credit cards, but it was included in my C13, is there a certain way it should be reported to the credit bureaus?
I subscribe to the Experian credit monitoring. To basically see when and if the dismissal goes through if it will alert me and I can send copies of dismissal papers to all credit agencies. I received an email alert yesterday that negative reporting was put on my credit report. The negative reporting was from AT&T Universal Card (who never filed a claim). I recently got mine and my son's free credit reports and noticed that they had put my credit card on his credit report (he was in high school and I gave him a card for his wallet) which by the way, he never used. He was 13 years old when he had the card. I sent a dispute letter to the credit bureaus and At&T and explaining that he was 13 when I gave him an additional card. He's never had credit and this is negative information on his report and he's a kid and already blackballed. I read a few legal sites that said he was not liable -he never signed anything. I read that he was not responsible if he wasnt a co-applicant on the card. Especially when they saw his age. He's never even tried to get credit and all this negative reporting was on his report from 1995.
My question is ... I just got the negative reporting because AT&T has called this a charge off. Does it make a difference between charge off and Payment Plan. I noticed a lot of the accounts say payment plan. A few of the cards say the account is active and in great standing. God knows what thats about. Those cards have been closed for years. I'm talking cards that the current credit agency reporting was last month. Is it in my best interest to tell them to close those? Since they arent even open? Just curious on how the AT&T charge off as opposed to completed payment plan (although they didnt file a claim) affects my reporting.
Any one? Thanks.
