    Buying a car

Hi, we wont be filing for another 5 to 6 months. Is it ok to try to buy a car now, so we will at least have something reliable for the next five years. Thanks

A good used car would not create a problem...... but buying a new one - then filing bankruptcy........... now that could create an issue.......

Everyone has to have a vehicle, so I don't see a problem with purchasing one...... as long as its not extremely expensive.....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

might depend on the trustee, our lawyer strongly encouraged us to get at least one new or newer car, before we filled. I was very very concerned about doing that , he said that since both our cars had 200,000+ miles on them it would not be a problem. We bought a car filled 3 months later without even a question asked. We also got $200 a month allowance for the other car since it had such high milage and would need more than regular repaires. I think if the car is over 10 years and 70,000 miles you can get the $200, but I,m sure it depends on the trustee and court some are easier to work with.
