Wow, that is unreal!! I can't believe attorneys rake someone who needs help financially! You need to definitely shop around.

Mom2One, focus on getting your BK rolling asap. When we filed we were one step ahead of a levy on both of our vehicles and our bank account. I was lucky that I found an excellent attorney. Like mine, some attorneys work with you on the fee and get your BK rolling. After my first meeting with him, it was then that give him all paperwork and outline my debts. They went to work immediately and we felt so relieved. This will give you peace of mind. If you have a relative who may be able to help $$ a bit too. I wish you all good things in future.

I would buy a car now if you can, before you file. It is not fraud, you plan on paying for it, regaardless of the BK filing. But if you have to go with a CH 13, it is essential that you have a car that can make it through a 5 year plan (I know, I have 4 years to go and 2 older high milage cars, so it is a constant worry for me about when one of these breaks down!) If you go with a CH 7, you still need a vehicle, and would probably be able to get better interest rates now then you would right out of a CH 7, so could do an affirmation (or try to do a ride-through) of the loan and keep making the car payments after the dust settles. Good luck!

Just got back from meeting with an attorney in AZ. His cost for a chapter 13 is $3700. He wants $2000 down & the rest will be put in chapter 13 plan. We have met with one other attorney who wanted 3200.00, but like the guy we saw today.

This seems high to me, any advice?

          Thanks
We are not in your state. but ours wants $3300 - $2200 up front and the rest in the 13 plan - cause looks like we have to do a 13 instead of a 7.
