It is basically just a look back to be sure that everyone was paid what they were supposed to be paid in your plan. I made my last payment in Sep, was discharged in Oct, and closed in Dec.

The audit occurs after you make your last payment. You will get a letter from the Trustee (or should) advising what he/she is doing and about how long it should be before you get your discharge. During that time, he/she audits your plan and sends any final payments and other paperwork to each creditor for that creditor to sign and return. You will not receive your discharge until he/she receives all the signed papers back from the creditors. This was all explained to us by our trustee and attorney. It can take about 3 months from the time of your last payment, give or take.
