Chapt 13 and car outside of plan??

Hi all. I've been paying for a few months now. I was confirmed back in August and my payment is deducted from my pay per court order. I pay my car outside of the plan. When will my plan be completed and I receive my discharge? (1) after the unsecureds are paid thru the plan or (2) after I pay off the car? The car was in the plan but am paying for it outside the plan. Just curious, not sure how this works when paying a secured outside the plan. Thanks again everyone, you were a great help during the stressful six months prior to my confirmation.

OK, now that's just plain confusing. If your car is in your plan you wouldn't be paying it yourself, the trustee would. Just because the car loan is listed in your matrix and they filed a claim doesn't mean its included in your plan. If you're paying it outside your plan then it has no effect on the duration of your plan. Your 13 will be over in 36 months or 60 months or whatever your plan was set up for regardless of when you payoff your car.

Sorry, poor choice of words. You are right, it's in my matrix. I am paying it outside of the plan (paying myself). I was wondering because when I check the National Data Center, they show my car but that I'm paying it outside the plan. Just wasn't sure. Thanks again.

Your car won't have anything to do with the plan being finished...it's paid off when it's paid off. You should know the duration of your plan (e.g., 60 months, $xxxx, including trustee and attorney fees); when those months are up then you're done...although you keep sending in payments until the Trustee says you're done! Then there's an audit, and a refund of overpayments (if any).
